Hood River is one of the charming communities found along the Columbia River Gorge. Primarily known for the fantastic wind surfing on the Columbia at the edge of town, Hood River is also home to wonderful orchards providing delicious apples, pears, cherries, peaches and other fruits. From the city, travelers and locals alike can see an awe-inspiring view of Mount Hood.

Just a couple of hours to the north of Bend, Oregon, you will find Hood River – also known as the Wind Surfing Capital of the World. Even if you don't wind surf, you can enjoy the show by driving to the Columbia Gorge Sailpark or taking Second Street to the waterfront. The winds that are created by the Gorge are ideal for wind surfing.

Hood River is a great place to visit on either your way to or from Central Oregon. Here you will find an historic railroad that takes passengers through the beautiful orchard area. Ride the rails and enjoy the scenic valley between Mount Hood and the Columbia River.
