The Columbia River Gorge lies just to the north of Central Oregon and is an eighty-mile long geologic wonder! The Columbia is the only sea-level passage to cross the Cascade Mountains. The Deschutes River of Central Oregon fame empties into it. On your way to Bend or other areas in Central Oregon, take the time to explore and enjoy the Columbia River Gorge.

The Columbia River Gorge is a unique place with incredible beauty and numerous opportunities for enjoyment. This unusual area provides a playground for nearly every kind of recreation. The steep walls of the river's canyon create wonderful wind conditions excellent for windsurfing and sailing. There is a multitude of spectacular waterfalls. On or along the Columbia River, you can enjoy river cruises, nature hikes, kayaking and canoeing.

For those who like to "rough it", there are many camping areas in the region or if you prefer there are many inns, historical buildings, hotels, motels, etc. that offer accommodations. Each city or town has all types of shopping and many have museums, art galleries, theaters, wineries, and seasonal festivals.
