Bend is known as a great location for a vast array of outdoor recreation. While camping, hiking, mountain biking, or skiing usually come to mind when you think of Bend, Oregon, tennis is another popular outdoor activity there – especially during the summer. Several public and private courts are available in and near Bend. If you want to perfect your serve or improve your volley, lessons and clinics are available through local athletic clubs, area resorts, or the Bend Department of Parks and Recreation.

Where to Go to Play Tennis

• Juniper Park – There are four tennis courts available to the public in at this beautiful park surrounded by juniper trees. This park is located on NE 6th Street in Bend.
• Sylvan Park – There are two public tennis courts at Sylvan Park, located on NW Three Sisters Drive on Awbrey Butte in Bend. Parking is limited and courts are first come, first serve.
• Summit Park – Also located on Awbrey Butte in Bend, this public park has two public tennis courts. The park is on SW Promontory Drive and is connected to Sylvan Park by a trail. Courts are available on a first come, first serve basis.
• Central Oregon Community College – The courts on this college campus are surrounded by beautiful scenery and offer spectacular mountain views. There is a tennis ball machine that can be rented by the hour.
• Bend High Schools – Summit High School, Bend Senior High School, and Mountain View High School have tennis courts available to the public.
• Private Clubs – There are several private clubs in Bend that offer tennis lessons for non-members.
• Resorts – More elaborate tennis facilities are available at various resorts near Bend, including Eagle Crest, Black Butte Ranch, and Sunriver. Many resorts offer private lessons as well as kids’ summer tennis camps.
