Located at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains on the edge of the Ponderosa Pine forests in Deschutes County, the city of Bend is considered the outdoor recreation capitol of Central Oregon. Because of it geographical location, it is possible to ski in the morning and play golf in the afternoon.
Originally, a logging town, today, Bend is a tourist destination providing many outdoor activities including golf, camping, and hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and fishing. The city itself also has excellent recreations, a thriving shopping and downtown area, scenic vistas, and a growing economy and attractive towns nearby, such as Redmond, Prineville, Sisters, La Pine, Sunriver, and Madras all of them with sunny days and cool nights.
